    As a book reviewer here on Amazon I was asked by the author to read and review this book and was given a free download of it.

    I am hugely into Pinterest and am greatly enthusiastic about using it for both personal and business use. You should be able to find me under gailetesews on Pinterest if you would like to see what I am doing. Once I had signed up to Pinterest in Dec. 2012, I wasn’t sure how to proceed so I found several e-books that I downloaded and read on my Kindle. I never feel like any one book has all the answers, so I was delighted to have another author’s viewpoint on using Pinterest. As I run a business that needs marketing and promotion, a book that promises to help me have the best Pinterest boards possible for that purpose, I was happy to read.

    I’m afraid I was rather disappointed with this book. It is a good general overview, but many details are missing. Rarely is there a url to a page to show what is being talked about and directions were minimal. At one point in the book there was a formula given for tracking Pinterest growth. However no real numbers were used as an example for math impaired people. The author also brought up hashtags and tagging people, again with no examples. Believe it or not, some people using the computer, if they aren’t into Twitter, etc. don’t know what a hashtag is. They may have heard about them, but that doesn’t mean that they know what they look like or how to use them. How hard would it have been to state that this symbol: # is a hashtag, and then show how to use it? With yet again no real instructions, I have no clue how to follow his directions on tagging other pinners by name nor do I know how to thank others for repining my pins. As I said previously, I’m very active in Pinterest and at this point have over 1000 followers and haven’t seen a way to do this on Pinterest so instructions might have helped me learn something new. One of his suggestions was to host a contest, with one sentence telling why to do it, but none telling how to do it. The contest idea I have read about several times, but I don’t recall seeing an actual one on any of the Pinterest boards that I go on so either most Pinners are unaware of the concept or haven’t figured out how to do it effectively depending on their business.

    There were also some editing errors that I will be sending to the author for correction. I think he has made a great start but needs to flesh out his book a lot more. It is a short book and probably took me less than a half an hour to read. I would have rather taken an hour to read the book and gotten more information.

    Social Media Magnet (the moniker for an astute marketer who also goes by the name Nick N) has put together another book to introduce both novices and those in the know how to utilize the Internet to enhance your business. His books to date are FACEBOOK MARKETING GUIDE, TWITTER MARKETING GUIDE, and now PINTEREST MARKETING GUIDE for Smart Business Owners. For those already involved in Internet marketing perhaps these books may not some as a surprise, but for everyone who reads these books, no matter the degree of sophistication, Nick sets all the parameters for intelligent manipulation of the Internet to make businesses more profitable.

    The gist behind the books is to learn how to make the social media arena a business advancing adventure. This book introduces Pinterest, a popular website where individuals can `pin’ items of interest for sharing with friends and for starting discussions or investigations about all manner of subjects. The site (new to me even though it has been around since 2010!) is handsome, easy to use, and full of information. What this book does is allow you to set up an account and then utilize that personal account to market your business or products. The author reveals how to use Pinterest to optimize your search rank: `For a business to grow, it has to be well known. As they say, word of mouth is still one of the biggest ways to make sure that something becomes popular. With the help of Pinterest, you can make your business more popular.’

    We are then show how to utilize Pinterest Widgets to assist marketing how relatively easy that is to achieve. `If found in your website or other websites that are related to your business, then people will find it easy to follow you, re-pin images from your website on their boards, and the like. These days, people have little to zero attention span so it’s better to have these widgets to make things easier for them.’

    The bulk of this brief book is focused on `how-to’ rather than profound theoretical data – a factor making it easy to use, to understand and to incorporate into your business. It is a really helpful tool for taking the knots out of new experience! Grady Harp, October 13
